Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for treatment of seizures associated with epilepsy. It can also be used for handling nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin may also be used for other condition as advised by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as advised by your doctor. Take Neurontin with or without a meal. Do not take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within two hours before you take Neurontin. Do not suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You can have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new drug, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.
Additional Information
Neurontin may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Take Neurontin with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you react to this medicine. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, consult your doctor. This medicine should be used only by the patient for whom it has been advised. Do not take less or more or take it more often than suggested by your doctor.
