Drug Uses
Celecoxib is used for treatment of acute pain in adults, menstrual pain (primary dysmenorrhea) in women, pain, inflammation, and stiffness of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults.
How Taken
Celecoxib comes as a capsule to take in by mouth. Use it as suggested by your doctor.
Additional Information
You may need a dose adjustment or special monitoring during healing or you may not be able to take this medicine at all if you have kidney or liver infection or if you have gastrointestinal problems. Celecoxib is in the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Also it is not known if Celecoxib passes into breast milk. Therefore, don't use Celecoxib without your physician`s approval if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breast feeding. People over 65 years of age may be more sensitive to the effects of Celecoxib. These people are recommended to take a lower dosage of this drug, as they are more likely to experience side effects.
