Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for treatment of seizures associated with epilepsy. It may also be used for curing nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin may also be used for other condition as suggested by your physician.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as suggested by your doctor. Use Neurontin with or without a meal. Do not take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours before you take Neurontin. Do not suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You can have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new pill, your doctor will gradually lower your dosage.
Additional Information
Neurontin may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects can worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Neurontin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly negative tasks until you know how you react to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, notify your doctor. This medicine should be used only by the patient for whom it has been directed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your physician.
