Drug Uses
Prilosec is used for treatment of various acid related stomach and esophagus problems (for example, GERD, ulcers, erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger Ellison Syndrome). If you suffer from heartburn (and have tried to treating it and changed your diet) Prilosec may be suitable for you. Certain antibiotics (such as amoxicillin, clarithromycin) can be advised together with Prevacid when healing certain ulcers.
How Taken
Prilosec comes as a capsule or tablet. The general dose is 20mg tablet or capsule, taken once a day (every 24 hours) during 14 days before a meal. Don't take Prilosec for more than 14 days or repeat a 14 day course more often than every 4 months. For best effect swallow the capsule or tablet, don't crush, break, or chew it.
Additional Information
Prilosec is not suitable for you if you have only occasional heartburn, have one episode of heartburn a week or less, want immediate relief of heartburn. Before taking Prilosec call your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drug you are taking. Do not start or stop any medicine without your physician`s or pharmacist`s approval.
